About me

Dr Jon Rees

Hello!

I'm Jon Rees and I work full time as a doctor, mostly at my GP surgery in Nailsea, North Somerset.   I live in the fantastic city of Bristol, having grown up in Devon, so the South West of England features heavily in my photography.

Many of my shots are taken before or after work. How many people are lucky enough to have an iconic photography location like the Clifton Suspension Bridge on their daily commute?!

My photography

I’m a relatively new convert to landscape photography, having bought my first really decent camera (the Sony A7iii full frame mirrorless) in April 2018. I upgraded to the Sony A7iv in early 2022.

My aim with my photography is always to go beyond the simple ‘record shot’, so I’m always looking for something extra, either by using long exposures or reflections or mist.

My charity

I have been a trustee of the Health Improvement Project Zanzibar (HIPZ) for over 10 years.  It's a small charity that manages two hospitals on the small island of Zanzibar (off the east coast of Africa). Our work reaches over 350,000 people on the island and covers everything from primary care, hospital care and a progressive mental health service.

10% of the revenue from my print sales will be donated to HIPZ.   If you are interested in learning more about our charity work then please take a look at the HIPZ website, where you can sign up to our newsletter.
